Sophie McIntosh is a New Zealand-born actor, dancer, and writer based in the UK…

She began dancing at the age of three, training extensively in classical ballet, contemporary, and jazz, and performing and competing both nationally and internationally throughout her childhood. Alongside dance, Sophie also studied violin, piano, and acting from a young age.

In 2012, Sophie was awarded fourth place at the National Young Performer of the Year Awards and was a semi-finalist at the Genée International Ballet Competition (now the Margot Fonteyn International Ballet Competition). After graduating from the Philippa Campbell School of Ballet in 2013, she received a full scholarship to spend the summer at the Joffrey Ballet School in New York, where she was later offered a place as a full-time classical ballet student.

In her final year of high school, Sophie was cast as Honour Aleni on the long-running New Zealand series Shortland Street, sparking a lasting love for film and television. Since then, she has worked professionally across acting and dance while also completing bachelor’s and master’s degrees in political science at the University of Auckland and the University of California, Los Angeles.

Over the course of her career, Sophie has appeared in numerous music videos, television series, feature films, and stage productions across New Zealand, the US, and the UK. Most recently, she can be seen in Apple TV+’s Bad Sisters and stars in Altitude Film’s No Way Up. In 2025, she made her UK stage debut with the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) in Rupert Goold’s Hamlet, and recently closed Tamara Harvey’s Henry V also with the RSC.

Alongside performing, Sophie is also developing her own writing projects, with a particular interest in character-driven stories and physical storytelling.
